NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – A former UMass Amherst student was found guilty of raping another student in an attack near the campus center witnessed by several other people.

A Hampshire Superior Court jury found 20 year-old Patrick Durocher of Longmeadow guilty on two out of three charges brought against him in connection with the 2013 incident. He was convicted of rape and assault, but acquitted on a charge of kidnapping.

Both Durocher and the victim were allegedly very drunk at that time. His attorney, Vincent Bongiorni, had argued that the sex was consensual, however Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Suhl argued that the victim was incapacitated, and unable to give her consent.

Sentencing for Patrick Durocher is scheduled for February 19.
