Autistic man awaits bail decision for attempted murder charges

The judge will issue a ruling at a later date

BELCHERTOWN, Mass. (WWLP) – A developmentally delayed Belchertown man accused of attacking his mother with a knife, is awaiting a judge’s disposition as to whether he can be released on bail.

21 year-old Belchertown resident Zachary Holmes has been held without bail since his arraignment January 13th. He plead not guilty to attempted murder and armed assault.

His mother told 22News last month her son suffered a “psychotic break,” and should never have been charged.

The Hampshire County Superior Court judge took Friday’s proceedings under advisement, and will issue a ruling at a later date.
