(NBC News) Senator Bernie Sanders enters tonight’s Democratic debate with a substantial lead over Hillary Clinton in the latest polls.
The new NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll shows Sanders 20 points ahead of Clinton.
Tonight’s debate will focus on the differences between the two Democrats, with each claiming to be the true progressive candidate.
On the Republican side, Jeb Bush, Chris Christie and John Kasich are trying to break out in New Hampshire by going after Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz.
Cruz, meanwhile, is warning his rivals would compromise with Democrats.
“Either someone like Donald, who has told us he’s going there to make deals or someone like Marco Rubio, very talented guy, but has already demonstrated that he’s willing to break his word to the voters,” Cruz told supporters Thursday.
Coming off an unexpectedly strong finish in Iowa, Senator Marco Rubio is arguing he’s the most electable Republican.
“When I’m your nominee I will unite this party, faster then anybody running for president can,” Rubio claimed.
