The new Orion space capsule, designed to eventually carry a crew to Mars, is on display at Kennedy Space Center.

(WESH) NASA is showing off the new and improved Orion Crew Module, the vehicle that will carry the first man to Mars.

The exploration capsule is set to fly at least 30,000 miles beyond the moon on an unmanned test flight in late 2018.

The ultimate goal is to send astronauts to Mars and beyond.

NASA says Orion is capable of taking them further into deep space than any other spacecraft in history.
