LANESBOROUGH, Mass. (WWLP) – Firefighters from four Berkshire County towns were called in to put out a garage fire in Lanesborough early Thursday morning.

Lanesborough Fire Chief Charlie Durfee told 22News that the garage at 558 North Main Street was engulfed in flames when firefighters got there, just after 12:15 A.M. Tanker trucks from Hancock, Cheshire, and New Ashford were called in to help supply water to fight the fire.

The flames were out by 4:15 A.M.

He said that no one was home at the time, and the fire was initially reported by a passerby.

Durfee said that the state fire marshal’s office is now looking into what caused the fire.
