The economic impact this winter’s weather has been having

East Mountain Country Club in Westfield is still open for the season.

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The sound of golf carts is not typically what we hear this time of year. It’s usually the sound of snow blowers.

At East Mountain Country Club in Westfield they’re staying open a lot longer than they usually do.

“Well obviously we’re open which is a good thing. We had the best December we ever had and this has continued. January has been nice and the forecast for this weekend and at least through Wednesday of next week looks terrific so it’s been a blessing for us,” said Mark Perez of East Mountain Country Club.

While some people have been taking advantage of the lack of snow and mild weather we’ve been having, this weather has not been good for businesses that depend on the snow and cold like Stephen A. Roberts Landscape Architecture and Construction in Springfield.

“Obviously we’re not doing a lot of snow and ice management for our clients which affects our bottom line and makes it a little bit more difficult to make ends meet,” said Stephen A. Roberts of Stephen A. Roberts Landscape Architecture & Construction.

Roberts says if we were to get at least a little snow each week that would help out a lot right now. He says he is getting quite a few calls from people requesting new projects for the spring which helps business out a bit.
