15 year-old driver, 14 year-old passenger arrested in stolen van

Wilbraham police say teens were going down Boston Road at speeds of nearly 70 MPH

WILBRAHAM, Mass. (WWLP) – A 15 year-old and a 14 year-old were arrested after Wilbraham police say they caught them going down Boston Road at highway speeds in a stolen van. According to the department, the incident took place at around 3:30 A.M. on January 20. That was when one of their officers tried to pull over the van, which had been traveling eastbound on Boston Road at speeds of nearly 70 miles per hour.

The driver of the van, the 15 year-old suspect, would not pull over for police, and officers in neighboring Palmer had to put down stop sticks to finally get them to stop. Both the driver of the van and the 14 year-old passenger were arrested for receiving a stolen motor vehicle. The driver is also being charged with failure to stop for police, in addition to other traffic violations.

While their identities are not being revealed due to their age, Wilbraham police say both suspects are from Enfield, Connecticut, which is where the van had been stolen.
