Obituary: Viola Balise

Viola “Vicki” S. Balise, 88, passed away Monday, January 25, 2016 at home.

Born in Boston to the late Dennis and Viola Sullivan, she lived in Wilbraham before moving to Longmeadow and Naples, FL. She was a graduate of New Rochelle, NY High School, Seton Hill College in Greensburg, PA and the New York School of Interior Design. Vicki belonged to the Longmeadow Country Club and Pelican Bay Club in Naples, FL. She was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Longmeadow and St. Williams Church in Naples. Vicki was a member of the Springfield Bridge Club and the Bridge Center of Naples.

She was predeceased by her husband James E. Balise in 1989 and her son Michael D. Balise on Dec. 23, 2015. Vicki leaves three sons; James “Jeb” Jr. and his wife Tara of West Springfield, Thomas W. Balise and his wife Meredith of Wilbraham, and Peter S. Balise of Mooresville, NC., two daughters, Kathleen Cappel and her husband Robert of DuBois, PA. and Jami Davis and her husband David of W. Melbourne, FL., her daughter-in-law Maryellen Balise of Agawam; her 18 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a brother, David Sullivan of Ocala, FL.

All Services will be private at the convenience of the family. The family would like to thank the Visiting Angels Home Care for their never ending dedication and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. The SAMPSON’S CHAPEL OF THE ACRES FUNERAL HOME IS IN CHARGE OF THE ARRANGEMENTS.
