NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — The Super Bowl is just over a week away and many of you may be looking to upgrade the TV you watch it on. If you’re planning to go shopping for a new TV you won’t be alone because experts say more people buy new TVs this time of year than they do on Black Friday.
The deals are out there and the selection is huge. There are big TVs, smaller ones, the ultra-thin, the curved model and even the super smart. You have a lot of options when it comes to the type of screen you want to watch the big game on and according to FatWallet’s annual TV buyer Survey, now’s the time most people will buy, partly because of the deals most major retailers are offering.
“A lot of promotions that we have are bundled deals where you can get sound bars or you can get better technology for your money,” said North Haven Best Buy General Manager Kim Degn.
But it’s still an expensive buy which is why Degn says you need to remember to ask about the warranty.
“Manufacturer warranties generally only cover manufacturing defect or recalls. So making sure your warranty covers things like power surge, pixel damage, all those things that could come up that’s not covered by the manufacturer warranty,” Degn said.
Also, keep an eye out for better deals in case the store price-matches and make sure they’ll take it back if it turns out not to be just right. Ask someone to explain the TVs features and resolution so you know you’re getting a TV that meets your viewing habits. The deals may be the best you’ll see all year but keep these tips in mind to ensure you’re the one coming out on top.
