AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – 15 UMass students traveled to Las Vegas for a home building competition. Unfortunately they didn’t get the top spot, but they did fair pretty well.
UMass competed against 35 other colleges and universities from the across the country. They came in 10th place overall, and ranked 2nd place out of all the student chapters.
Students had the chance to present a fully developed construction proposal to a panel of investors. Bradford Campbell of Home Builders & Remodelers of Western Mass. said, “I think the biggest thing for them is it develops maturity, presentation skills, and the ability also to go off on their own and figure out how they would do things with a building project.”
This is UMass’ third year competing. Last year, they came in 15th place, and in 2014, won the “Rookie of the Year award”.
