Springfield City Council gets the publics input on MGM’s new design

The new design need the City Council and Gaming Commissions approval

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield City Council is expected to vote next Tuesday on MGM Springfield’s proposed design changes.

Among the biggest changes, replacing the 25-story hotel tower with a six-story hotel on Main Street. The City Council on Wednesday night accepted public input on the design changes.

Rhonda Latney of Springfield said she was disappointed by the loss of the “WOW” factor. She said, “A lot has to be looked at here. Not just for personal gain, not for business, but the long term effects. And I think they have lost that vision.”

If the Springfield City Council approves the MGM design changes next week, they still must be approved by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission before the changes are accepted and become the final plan.
