Patriots fans show support at Gillette Stadium for Divisional Game

It was a close game but in the end the Patriots came out on top

FOXBOROUGH Mass. (WWLP) – The Patriots are one step closer to making it to Super Bowl 50. Fans packed Gillette Stadium tonight for a chance to see the Patriots play in what could be their last home game of the season.

It was a close game but in the end the Patriots came out on top over the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional game.

For many fans however there was never any doubt. Sean Simmer told 22News, “We’re going to take it to the Super Bowl, we cannot wait. I’m going to bring my family out to the game and it’s going to be a once and a lifetime experience.”

A little rain did not stop these dedicated fans from getting here early, some fans we spoke to were out here tailgating early Saturday morning.

It was a rough end of the season for Patriots fans with them losing 4 of their last 6 games and having multiple starters injured. But a lot of those players were back on the field Saturday night, just as fans were hoping.

James Sula said, “It was unbelievable, the crowd was roaring, everyone was live. It wasn’t as cold as it seem, everyone had fun, it was a great game to watch.”

Now Patriots fans will need to wait another day to find out where they will go next. But many already have their preferences.

“We want them home we want Steelers at home, bring Big Ben, we think Ben should come here.”

All the fans we spoke to had one thing in common, they want to see the Patriots on the field in Super Bowl 50 in 3 weeks.

Coleman Macguire said, “We’re going to go the Super Bowl and win the 50th Super Bowl, win our fifth Super Bowl. Tom Brady, he’s going to have a ring for all 5 fingers.”

Next week they will play in the AFC Championship. A game Sunday between the Denver Broncos and the Pittsburgh Steelers will decide who has that other spot.
