(KGW) Oregon’s Harney County sheriff met with armed protesters Thursday in hopes of reaching a peaceful resolution to an occupation at a national wildlife refuge.
Harney County Sheriff David Ward told protest leader Ammon Bundy he would help the group leave peacefully.
Bundy declined Ward’s offer.
“I don’t need an escort out of the state. I’m not afraid of anything,” he said.
The sheriff’s office said the two sides planned to talk again on Friday.
