SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Secretary of Elder Affairs, Alice Bonner, was in western Massachusetts Friday, along with local lawmakers to tour the Mercy Life Facility and Mary Meadow’s.
She told 22News that during her visits with the elderly across the state, the biggest issues that are brought to her attention is the cost of housing, the cost of transportation, and the cost of healthcare.
“There are actually quite a few programs available and every region of the state has an aging service access point and those are agencies, for example, greater Springfield senior services,” said Bonner.
Secretary Bonner told 22News those agencies can help seniors and their families learn about resources that could help pay for some of those costs of living.
