Florida statue raises eyebrows

(WBBH) One of the statues unveiled in downtown Fort Myers, Florida Thursday is causing quite a stir.

The metal sculpture appears to show a man, holding a beer, while he and his dog urinate on a pole. The graphic display has some people taking action by covering the man’s privates with a tarp, while others say it’s art.

“I noticed the dog, didn’t realize the man was also uh…having a good time,” said Jerry Jasperson.

Some people are shocked by a statue that some say is pushing the envelope for public art.

The piece is the work of Edugardo Carmona, who was invited to Fort Myers to promote a high-rise development. The piece is advertised as depicting the parallels between man and dog as they “mark” their territory.

“Kinda weird ain’t it?” said Bob Biser. “I don’t think children should be seeing that, do you? If I was doing that, I’d be in jail right now!”
