WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – West Springfield’s new mayor, William Reichelt, was sworn in to office on Monday.

He has a five point plan for his first term; having an accessible and accountable administration, creating a safe community by tackling drug addiction and crimes, strengthening schools, kick starting business development and fighting blight.

Mayor Reichelt told 22News he also welcomes public input; “I know I don’t know everything, I rely on my department heads who know a lot about their areas of expertise, but also rely on residents and business owners, what they’re looking for, what direction they want us to go in.”

This is the first elected position for Reichelt. Prior this, he served as the town attorney for West Springfield.
