Family forced out from their home after a fire in Springfield

Five children were home with babysitter at the time

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A fire in Springfield has forced one family to evacuate their apartment.

Springfield Fire Spokesman Dennis Leger told 22News the fire started at 316 Canon Circle, around 5:30 Tuesday night. Five children were inside the home with a babysitter when the fire started in the second floor bedroom. No one was hurt.

Leger said Springfield Arson is investigating and there was about $10,000 in damage. He said the family will be staying in a vacant unit in the apartment complex until further notice.
