CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Chicopee police say that a bartender who claimed to have been robbed by a man with a gun, was not really a victim, and had actually planned the heist with her boyfriend.

That boyfriend, 27 year-old Brandon Fraichard of Springfield, is being charged with larceny over $250 and conspiracy, in connection with the incident at Jocko’s on East Street. The bartender, whose name is not being released until court proceedings begin, will face the same charges, as well as one count of filing a false police report.

Chicopee Police Officer Mike Wilk told 22News that police had been called to the bar early Monday morning, where the bartender told them a 6’ tall man came in, showed her a gun, and stole cash, before ordering her to go into the bathroom, and making a getaway. Police searched the area, but were unable to find the suspect.

Wilk says that a concerned citizen later came to police, and provided them with video taken at the bar from the night in question. Police then went back and questioned the bartender again, and made the determination that this was an inside job involving her and Fraichard.

Chicopee police detectives were able to recover cash that was stolen in the staged robbery, Wilk said.
