104th Fighter Wing trained for airborne threats

The F-15 eagles took off around 9PM for about two hours

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The 104th Fighter Wing at Barnes Air National Guard Base in Westfield conducted Homeland Alert Air Defense exercises Tuesday night over New Hampshire.

According to Lt Col Brenda Hendricksen, the F-15 fighter jet pilots trained with the Civil Air Patrol, which was flying a low-speed civilian propeller aircraft.

The F-15 Eagles took off from Westfield around 9:10 p.m. Tuesday. The exercise lasted about two hours over the central New Hampshire area between Manchester and Lebanon.

Lt Col Hendricksen said these exercises are carefully planned, and include exercising airspace restriction violations, hijackings and responding to an unknown aircraft.
