Pedestrian struck and killed on Rt. 202 in South Hadley

Driver had not been drinking or taking drugs, DA spokesperson says

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – South Hadley Police and Massachusetts State Police are looking into what caused an accident on Route 202 Monday night in which a pedestrian was struck by a car and killed.

Mary Carey, spokesperson for the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, told 22News that the pedestrian was hit at around 5:30 P.M. near 605 Granby Road. The victim died at the crash site.

Carey says that the driver of the car that struck the man stopped and cooperated with police. She said no drugs or alcohol are believed to have been involved, and no citations have been issued against the driver.

The victim’s name is not being released until his identity is confirmed by the state medical examiner.
