Two taken to hospital following Holyoke crash

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Two people were taken to the hospital, and a major roadway in Holyoke was closed, following a crash Monday morning.

Holyoke Police Lt. David Fournier told 22News that two cars crashed at around 7:30 on Westfield Road, near the corner of Roosevelt Avenue.

Sgt. Stephen Loftus said that the drivers of both cars were taken to the hospital, one of the drivers, a 53 year-old woman from Holyoke, is in critical condition. The other driver, a 75 year-old man from Southampton, is expected to recover.

Fournier told 22News that the roadway was closed for hours as police looked into the cause of the crash, but that it has since re-opened.
