Man with 15-page record accused of beating woman for 3 hours

Russell Allison allegedly whipped woman with belt, cut her hair

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) — A man from Pittsfield with what prosecutors describe as an “extensive” criminal record has been held without bail on charges that he subjected a woman to a humiliating three-hour beating.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that a judge Tuesday ordered 42-year-old Russell Allison held until April 15 on charges including assault and battery.

Authorities allege that earlier this month, Allison ordered the woman to undress, punched and kicked her, whipped her with a belt and cut her hair.

At Tuesday’s dangerousness hearing, prosecutors argued that Allison should be held without bail, citing his 15-page criminal record and history of skipping court appearances.

Allison’s attorney said her client denied the assault allegations, adding that the woman had been involved in “tumultuous” relationship with her client and her accusations may be retaliatory.
