Even when away from home, blood donors feel the need to give

LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Some blood donors are so committed to their responsibilities they’ll even give blood when they’re far from home.

Amy Dolan of Arlington was visiting family in Hampden when she heard about the JGS Lifecare blood drive at Ruth’s House Assisted Living Residence in Longmeadow.

“Well I have O Negative blood, which is pretty rare with 9 percent of the population having it,” Dolan explained to 22News. “I felt I have the obligation to help others…I know it’s the right thing.”

Amy Dolan said she gives blood every 2 to 3 months. 22News will host a blood drive early next year on January 6th.
