(NBC News) – The campaign trail heated up on Tuesday in Iowa as Republican candidate Marco Rubio came under attack from fellow conservatives.
Rubio, however, landed a major endorsement from South Carolina Senator Trey Gowdy.
The support was a huge boost for Rubio’s campaign, and came as Donald Trump prepares to roll out a television ad campaign in the Hawkeye State.
“We’re going to spend a lot of money over the next 4 weeks and we’re going to just we just don’t want to take any chances, we’re too close,” said Trump.
The important Iowa caucuses are now just four weeks away.
