WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WWLP) – Travel by road was not the only thing that was affected by Tuesday morning’s wintry mess. Snowy and icy conditions led to delays at Bradley International Airport, and at other airports across the country.
At Bradley more than a dozen arrivals and departures were canceled, many more delayed.
Flight tracking site, ” Flight aware” reported roughly 1,700 flights were delayed and another 800 were canceled nationwide. By mid morning at Bradley, lines were decreasing and wait times were improving.
It wasn’t just the travelers themselves who were affected by the delays. Nan Frost of Connecticut came to Bradley to pick up her brother, who was flying in from Fort Lauderdale.
“His plane is a little delayed, not terribly so, about 40 minutes. I don’t know what the delay was, but there was no trouble getting here, no trouble parking,” Frost said.
While winter weather hit the Northeast, other parts of the country were getting hit much harder. Many of the delays and cancelations came because of wild weather in Texas and strong winter storms in the Chicago area.
The rest of this week is still expected to be a busy time for travelers. Officials at Bradley are reminding you to check your flight status before you leave home.
