Catholic priest in trouble for riding hoverboard during Mass

The motorized man of the cloth says he’s sorry and is now taking some time off

MANILA, the Philippines (WCMH) — A Catholic priest in the Philippines is in trouble for using a hoverboard during mass.

Cell phone video footage taken during the Christmas Eve Mass shows the unidentified priest riding around the church on the hoverboard while singing “May the Good Lord Bless and Keep You.”

When he stepped off the device to deliver the final blessing, his parishioners gave him a round of applause, but church officials with the Diocese of San Pablo were not happy about his new mode of transportation.

“That was wrong,” the diocese told NBC News. “It is not a personal celebration where one can capriciously introduce something to get the attention of people.”

The motorized man of the cloth says he’s sorry and is now taking some time off.

“The priest said that it was a wake up call for him; he acknowledged that his action was not right and promised that it will not happen again,” the diocese said in a statement posted on its Facebook page. “He will be out of the parish and will spend some time to reflect on this past event. He would like to apologize for what happened.”

Hoverboards were one of the hottest Christmas gifts this holiday season.
