DA Sullivan participates in distracted driving simulator

CDC: 9 people die every day as a result of distracted driving

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Northwestern District Attorney David Sullivan got behind the wheel of “Distractology 101” on Tuesday, a texting while driving simulator.

The interactive program is designed to give drivers the chance to drive distracted, without the danger.

DA Sullivan told 22News how easy it was to lose focus when distracted by a cellphone or even the radio. He said, “It just doesn’t take more than a second or two for you to go into the other lane or to really make a mistake, and some of the biggest tragedies we’ve had with vehicular homicide in our district come from texting or playing with the radio.”

According to the CDC, an estimated nine people die every day as a result of distracted driving.
