WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Westfield Police Department is warning the public of counterfeit money reportedly being used at local stores lately.

According to the Westfield Detective Bureau Facebook page, at first glance the $100 bills look genuine, but if you take a closer look, the paper feels waxy and the words “For Motion Picture Use Only” are written across the bills.

Police are especially warning store clerks who exchange cash daily; the couple suspected of using the fake bills are buying items and then exchanging them for real cash.

If you have any information on the fake bills, or you think you found one, call the Westfield Detective Bureau at 413-572-6400.
