Marijuana growing operation discovered during drug raid

Marijuana, heroin, and over $4,000 were found in the home.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Police say they arrested a man who had turned the second floor of his apartment into a marijuana growing operation.

According to the Springfield Police Department’s Facebook page, people called complaining about high traffic coming and going to a home on 88 Whittier Street. Springfield narcotics detectives conducted an investigation and were able to obtain a search warrant.

The team of detectives conducted a drug raid and arrested 33-year-old Justin Festa on the third floor of his home. Just below on the second floor, police said were 37 marijuana plants growing under hydroponic lights, and plastic-sealed windows. The team of detectives also found packaging materials, scales, packaged marijuana, 9 bags of heroin and $4,230.00 in cash.

Festa was charged with possession of heroin, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and cultivating marijuana.
