LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Jewish families across the globe are concluding the eight days of Chanukah.
A Chanukah extravaganza has developed at the Longmeadow shops as families gear up to light the last candle on the menorah.
It’s called the Festival of Lights, which began at sundown on December 6th, and will end at sundown on Monday.
The event features ice carvings, music, dreidels, and hot coffee courtesy of Starbucks.
Participants enjoyed watching a menorah being carved out of ice, which was later lit. The menorah is an important part of the holiday that symbolizes the Jewish tradition.
Chanukah is a 2,000-year-old observance.
The eight-day Jewish observance remembers the Jewish people’s struggle for religious freedom.
