CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The city of Chicopee is formulating a plan to maintain the city’s drinking water, and to control wastewater and drainage in the future.
About 25 people attended Mayor Richard Kos informational hearing Thursday night at the Chicopee Public Library.
The goal is to eventually find funding for an integrated plan for water management.
Mayor Kos told 22News, “This is an effort to identify issues that we have continuing with water, sewer, and drainage systems so we can best utilize our resources of our rate-payers and our city.”
Chicopee will eventually decide how it will work federal and state regulators to protect and improve the quality of the city’s drinking water, and to manage the drainage of storm water to make sure it doesn’t combine with sewage during heavy rain.
