SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Police are investigating a BB gun shooting that occurred Thursday afternoon on Plainfield Street in Springfield.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News a school bus from Chestnut Middle School was traveling down Plainfield Street, around 3:15PM, when the back window of the bus was shattered at the corner of Abbe Avenue.

Police officers quickly responded and found a BB gun pellet. Sgt. Delaney said kids most likely shot the window.

Sgt. Delaney also said a child sitting in the back of the bus was hurt by either the window glass or the pellet itself, but was okay and not taken to the hospital.
