Springfield extends medical marijuana application deadline

A site is not needed until Phase II

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The city of Springfield is extending its application deadline for a medical marijuana dispensary.

The city hasn’t received any applications to develop a medical marijuana treatment center. The office of procurement has pushed the Phase 1 application deadline back from December 2nd to December 16th.

Phase 1 allows someone to establish their plan and general theme and plan for their business.

Springfield resident Paul Basile says western Massachusetts should have more medical marijuana dispensaries. “I think there should be because I lived in Colorado, I saw all the different dispensaries out there, and they did well, so I’m surprised no one applied for it.”

A site is not needed until Phase II. The city will them review the applications and pre-qualify some for Phase II.
