EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – We’re in the month where winter begins. 22News is working for you with a look back at November, and a preview of what December may bring.
Tuesday was the first day of December and some us saw some freezing rain.
But don’t judge the rest of the month by the first day. Just look at November, we saw no accumulating snowfall even though we did see some flurries in October.
November was a dry month. We were below average for rainfall, where we barely saw 2 inches of rain and the average is around 4 inches.
It was also warm in November. We broke two record high temperatures last month, one in the lower 70’s and the other in the 60’s.
Western Massachusetts residents did not seem to mind, just ask Paula Alger, from East Longmeadow, who told 22News, “I think it was wonderful I really enjoyed the warmth not having to bundle up and just being able to breathe and the little nip in the air wasn’t bad and no snow for Thanksgiving was good.”
December seems to be picking up where November left off. According to recent models, there is a chance of slightly warmer temperatures, as well as a chance for more dry days than wet. For now there’s still no snow in sight as we begin the first week of December.
The first official day of winter begins December 21st.
