Body recovered from CT River in South Hadley identified

The Chicopee woman’s death is still undetermined

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – A woman from Chicopee has been identified as the body found in the Connecticut River in South Hadley last Friday.

According to Mary Carey of the Northwestern DA’s Office, the Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that the body of 61-year-old Janice Camerlin was recovered beneath the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge in South Hadley on November 27th. Camerlin’s death has not yet been determined.

Carey said Camerlin was reported missing on November 24th by family members. Her disappearance is still under investigation by the South Hadley and Chicopee Police Departments

The Massachusetts State Police Detectives Unit attached to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office is also assisting with the investigation.
