PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Pittsfield firefighters had to work to put out three fires early Tuesday morning: one inside an apartment building, one outside a house, and one in a car.

According to a news release sent to 22News by the Pittsfield Fire Department, all three fires took place in the city’s Morningside neighborhood. The first was at 40 Perrine Avenue, where firefighters found a fire in the common hallway of the building. That was quickly put out. Meanwhile, another fire crew was called to 76 Plunkett Street, where trash was found burning in front of the home.

About a block away, two more fire engines had to be called to the area of 41/43 Kellogg Street, where a car was found, engulfed in flames.

All three fires were put out quickly, and no one was hurt.

Pittsfield Police Capt. John Mullin told 22News that Jeffrey Benoit, 26, of Hinsdale was arrested in connection with the fires. He is being charged with arson and will be arraigned Tuesday in Pittsfield District Court.
