2016 Barnes air show called off

104th ran into difficulty in finding a jet team to perform

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – An air show scheduled for next fall in Westfield has now been canceled.

The air show was slated for September 10 and 11 at Barnes Air National Guard Base, home of the 104th Fighter Wing of the Massachusetts Air National Guard. 104th Public Affairs Spokesman Sr. MSGT Robert Sabonis told 22News that the decision to cancel the show was made recently due to difficulty in securing a jet team to perform.

Despite the cancellation of the 2016 event, Sabonis told 22News that the base was going to try to schedule an air show in 2017.

The last time the 104th held an air show was in 2010. Because of operational deployments and training exercises, they haven’t been able to host an event since then.
