Completion date passes on Memorial Ave. rotary project, construction continues

MassDOT said it cannot say exactly when the project will be done

WEST SPRINGFIELD Mass. (WWLP) – Drivers in West Springfield will notice more road closures near the Memorial Ave rotary.

MassDOT said the ramps from Route 5 to the rotary are expected to be closed in both directions starting Monday.

Crews will be installing guard rails and cleaning up the rotary. The closures will take place, “as needed” between 7AM and 5PM each day. The completion date had been set for Saturday, November 28th.

One driver told 22News she’s tired of all the construction. Portia Wassick said, “It definitely adds a lot. I’m not going to lie about it. If I’m trying to drive somewhere and I see a lot of construction and detours, I’m not a super happy camper about it.”

MassDOT said it cannot say exactly when the project will be done. They’re still waiting for the contractor to file an extension.
