HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – A motorcyclist was rushed to Baystate Medical Center, after he was thrown from his bike in an accident Wednesday afternoon.
Hadley Police Officer Ken Hartwright told 22News that the accident took place at around 12:15 at the intersection of North Maple Street and Plainville Road. Hartwright says that the motorcycle and a car were going in opposite directions on North Maple, when the car’s driver went to turn onto Plainville, cutting the motorcyclist off. The motorcycle hit the car head-on, and the rider was thrown off the bike, and his body bounced off a stop sign before landing. There was debris scattered on the ground at that intersection.
The State Police accident reconstruction team was called in to piece together what happened.
Hartwright said the motorcyclist suffered very serious injuries, and was taken to Baystate Medical Center. The driver of the other car was an older man with handicap placards. No word on if he’ll be cited or charged.
