Mayflower Marathon exceeds goals- bringing food and cash to Open Pantry

$125,000 collected, extra truck brought in to haul away donated food

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Rock 102’s annual Mayflower Marathon went above and beyond this year by exceeding their goal of more than $110,000.

After broadcasting for 52 hours, rock jocks Bax & O’Brien were able to raise almost $125,000 in donations this year; up substantially from last year’s goal.

“This year, we were able to reach nearly $125,000. We were able to fill the three box trucks and actually had to bring in a fourth box truck, just to get the last of the stuff, which was great,” Rock 102 Marketing Director Alex Byrne said.

Both food and monetary donations made during the Mayflower Marathon will go toward Springfield’s Open Pantry. The duo raised so much that it will supply the pantry and those in need until the spring.

This is the classic rock station’s 20th annual food drive.
