Overnight fire in Holyoke burned for hours

The fire started around midnight and took firefighters hours to get it under control.

HOLYOKE, Mass (WWLP) – Firefighters in Holyoke struggled to get control of a massive fire overnight Tuesday.

Holyoke Police Lt. Joseph Garcia told 22News the fire started around midnight in a pile of railroad ties behind several buildings on Cabot Street.

Fire crews had closed part of Cabot Street between Main Street and Canal Street while they worked to get control of the fire.

The fire was out around 5:00 A.M. and Cabot Street has since reopened. No word yet on what caused that fire.
