Retired police officer named Chicopee marshal for Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Retired Chicopee Police Officer Timothy O’Grady will lead his city’s sizable marching contingent in the 2016 Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade.

O’Grady who recently retired after 32 years on the police force, was both surprised and delighted to learn he’s been honored with the assignment of Chicopee parade marshal.

O’Grady told 22News, “It’s a very tremendous honor for such a distinguished award. I’ve spent many years serving and protecting the people living here. My kids grew up in Chicopee.”

The Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade will observe its 65th anniversary when the marchers step off at noon, on Sunday March 20th, 2016.
