MERIDEN, Conn. (AP) — Police say a teenager has died after the car he was driving crashed near a cemetery in Meriden.

Police say the 19-year-old driver left the roadway and crashed near the Walnut Grove Cemetery around 2 a.m. Sunday.

The driver was trapped in the car, which split in half. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The teenager’s name is not being released until his family can be notified.

Police have not said if other people were in the vehicle.

Police also didn’t specify the cause of the crash.

Old Colony Road was closed so authorities could investigate.

Police say it has since been reopened.
