Chicopee Police arrest wanted fugitives, alleged bank robber

Both are being held at the Chicopee police station

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Chicopee Police arrested a man wanted in connection to a series of bank robberies.

Chicopee Police Officer Mike Wilk told 22News that 37-year-old Juan Cruz and 33-year-old Melissa Sandillo were both arrested. Only Cruz is suspected in the bank robberies.

When police cornered him at the Days Inn along Memorial Drive, Cruz smashed a second story window and jumped to get away. He was caught and put into handcuffs.

Police say he was wanted in connection to six bank robberies in New Haven, CT and Albany, NY.

The woman arrested, Melissa Sandillo, was also a wanted fugitive.
