Holyoke’s “Cops for Kids” helps local 7 year old cancer patient

Surgeons removed a tumor from Giovanni's stomach and his cancer is now in remission

HOLYOKE Mass. (WWLP) – The Holyoke Police Department Thursday, observed the 20th anniversary of Its “Cops for Kids” program by brightening the spirits of a 7 year old Cancer patient.

Police donations made it possible to provide Giovonni Correa with early Christmas presents. Surgeons removed a tumor from Giovanni’s stomach and his cancer is now in remission.

A $5,000 dollar check from the Statewide “Cops for Kids with Cancer” will help Giovonni’s mom with the medical bills.

Magra Lopez told 22News, “Overwhelmed, emotional, I have been through so much in the past four years. It’s great to help me with the bills to keep expenses down.”

Since Holyoke’s Cops for Kids program began in 1995, the men and women in blue have used business donations to help families that found themselves in unfortunate situations.
