Overnight sobriety checkpoint results in arrests in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The State Police Sobriety checkpoint in Springfield overnight resulted in five drivers being arrested for allegedly driving under the Influence.

Troopers from the Springfield barracks charged another driver with DUI while on drugs and yet another driver with possession of drugs.

Trooper Roberto Burgos told 22News, the state police set up their checkpoint on Page Boulevard and stopped drivers from 10:30 Saturday night until 5:15 Sunday morning.

During the holiday season state police usually increase the number of Saturday night checkpoints in different Hampden County locations.
