AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – 7-year-old Ayden Vrijenhoek of Agawam is setting an example for other generous children devoted to community service.

Ayden arranged a charity ride Sunday through School Street Park in Agawam. An ambitious fund raising activity to benefit agencies in Agawam and West Springfield that help feed the hungry.

His mom, Connie Vrijenhoek, is so proud of her son’s compassion for others. Ayden actually began helping the agencies when he was six years old. “He told me he wanted to do his own charity ride. He rode five laps around the neighborhood and raised a total of 80 dollars So, after that he said he wanted to make it bigger this year.”

Now that he’s enlisted support from his friends and adult neighbors, there’s no telling what this compassionate grade schooler can achieve.

100 percent of the money raised benefits the Agawam Congregational Church’s Loaves and Fishes Project, and the West Springfield parish cupboard.
