SAGAMORE, Mass. (AP) — A truck carrying cranberries caused major delays during the rush hour commute after it crashed into another vehicle on a bridge onto Cape Cod, spilling berries onto the roadway.

Massachusetts State Police said Friday on its official Twitter account that the Sagamore Bridge was closed in both directions due to the crash at about 7 a.m.

Police said one person was taken to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence with serious injuries. A second victim suffered minor injuries and declined to be taken to the hospital.

Motorists heading to and from Cape Cod were being advised to take the Bourne Bridge because of the head on crash. As of about 7:45 a.m., all lanes remained closed as cleanup of the wreckage and the cranberries was ongoing.

By 8:30, all lanes of the bridge had re-opened.
