Residents wary after South Hadley home break-ins

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – The usually quiet community of South Hadley is dealing with a series of recent burglaries.

Police are asking residents to keep a watchful eye, and lock your door. There’s been about six home break-ins in two weeks’ time. The break-ins have happened in broad daylight.

South Hadley Police Lt. Steve Parentela told 22News often, burglars will try to get in through the garage, or knock on your door and pretend like they accidentally came to the wrong home.

Police say they are following up on leads but don’t have any suspects.

One of the burglaries happened on Ranger Street. A resident told 22News how he keeps his home secure.

Chad Chouinard said, “We try and have somebody home at all times and keep people in the loop of what’s going on. We try to keep an eye out for suspicious cars in the neighborhood. We keep out doors locked and all of our windows locked and closed. All the neighbors try and keep each other in the loop. If we see any weird cars. Keep an ear out keep and eye out.”

Homes were also broken into on Wilson Street, Lynch Place, Hunter Terrace and Granby Road.

Bottom line, if you see something say something. Report any suspicious cars or people to the South Hadley Police Department.
