AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – After more than one year of renovations, movies are back on the screens of the Agawam Cinemas.

Spectre: 3:00pm, 6:00pm, 8:50pm

It’s been almost two years since the former Agawam Twin Cinemas closed its doors for lack of Digital projection equipment.
Kimberly Wheeler of Agawam bought the two theater complex, raised $40,000 through kickstarter and the rest out of her own pocket. Wheeler told 22News, she’s obviously confident in the future of movies on the big screen.
“To come out and have an experience outside of your home with other people, reactions from the audience you can’t get that at home on a couch”
People in Agawam aren’t the only ones who intend to see the latest films at cinemas in the Southgate shopping plaza.
“I’m thrilled, I’m absolutely thrilled , I can’t believe what she’s done, It’s just a beautiful job the bathrooms are fabulous.”
It’s wonderful and they’re showing first run movies, the remodeling looks wonderful, new projectors it’s going to be great.
$7 is her top price for a ticket. In addition to first run, Wheeler hopes to screen some classic movies.
She said extensive renovations prevented her from opening last November.
The Amherst Cinemas celebrates its tenth anniversary next week.
